What is Listening Bodies?

An immersive sound and sensory installation that brings you into the worlds of traditional plant gatherers across Malaysia (Sarawak and Peninsular Malaysia), Borneo, Togo, Russia, Thailand, and the Republic of Congo.

The installation combines:

• Field recordings (voices, forest sounds, harvesting rhythms)
• Physical materials (Bornean spices, woven textures, dried plants)
• Sensory engagement (smell, taste, touch, listen)

Why it matters?

For nearly 20 years, I've documented traditional ecological knowledge with communities who live in deep relationship with plants. This installation is both an archive and an invitation - to slow down, to listen with your whole body, to honour these ways of knowing.

😎€15 - "Step outside" Audio Walking Meditation A guided audio meditation to use whenever you step outside - to physically connect with a plant and learn to observe it. Listen in the street, in a garden, anywhere. Digital delivery within 4 weeks after the campaign ends.

🌸€30 - Guided Plant Meditation + Audio Walk A new recording created for this campaign - a sensory practice to enter into relationship with plants. Includes both the guided meditation and the "step outside" audio walk. Digital delivery.

🌊€40 - Online Immersive Listening Session Join a small group online to experience Listening Bodies together: Malaysian forests and markets, Congolese songs, Thai plant gatherers. Let the forest vibrations carry you. Mid-June, with additional dates as needed.

🌅€50 - Field Photo Print + Bornean Spices + Listening Session + Audio Guides An A5 matte photo print from my fieldwork + Bornean spices to use at home + digital audio walk and guided meditation + invitation to the online collective listening session. Shipped internationally.

🥾€60 - Foraging Walk near Vannes + Tasting + Booklet A guided walk to learn to recognize and harvest wild edible plants, followed by a tasting. Illustrated booklet included. 🧘‍♀️€120 - Individual Video Session "Find Your Plant Companion" + Personalized Audio 2-hour individual video call (in English via Zoom) to identify a plant near you and build a relationship with it. 👥€400 - Group Foraging & Cooking Day at Abbaye de Lanvaux A full day for 6 people: nature walk and group foraging to discover edible plants, followed by a cooking workshop. 💜€500 - Host the Installation at Your Venue Are you a library, botanical garden, cultural center, or municipality? Support the campaign and get priority to host the installation in your area. Note: Primarily for French venues, but international hosting can be discussed.
